Privacy Policy

Callout is a small NZ-based service, and this policy describes exactly what we collect and why — nothing more than what's actually needed to connect customers with the businesses on our network. If anything here is unclear, email hello@callout.nz and we'll answer directly.
What we collect
If you list a business: your name, email (via sign-in), business phone number, category, description, service area, services and prices you set, and hours you set.
If you request a job (via the site or through an AI assistant): your name, phone number, optional email, the job details you provide, and an optional budget — sent directly to the specific business you're requesting.
If a business subscribes to the Bookable tier: payment is handled entirely by Stripe. We store a Stripe customer/subscription reference so billing works — we never see or store your card details.
Why we collect it
Solely to operate the service: matching a job request to the right business, sending the SMS notifications that make bookings work, and processing subscription payments. We don't use your information for advertising, and we don't currently run any analytics or tracking on the site.
Who it's shared with
- The specific business you request a job from — that's the point of the request.
- Stripe, to process business subscription payments.
- Burst SMS, to deliver the text messages that confirm bookings.
We don't sell personal information to anyone, for any reason.
How long we keep it
Booking and request records are kept so businesses have a history of their own jobs. You can ask us to delete your information at any time by emailing hello@callout.nz, and we will, unless we're required to keep something for tax or legal reasons.
Your rights
Under the Privacy Act 2020, you can ask to see what personal information we hold about you and ask us to correct it. If you're not happy with how we've handled a request, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner.
Changes
If this policy changes in any meaningful way, we'll update the date at the top of this page. See also our Terms of Service.
